Our own research into talent acquisition discovered that offering employee incentives is an effective way of acquiring and retaining new talent. This is especially true among the younger workforce (e.g. the 21-34 and 35-49 age groups) who see incentives as a necessary component of their employee compensation. Our ‘Receiving Incentives and Rewards from Your Employer’ study also highlighted that receiving a reward from an employer would increase 84% of employees’ loyalty to a company.
These findings are backed by external research that shows that the giving of employee rewards and incentives can help reduce turnover and boost a company’s bottom line:
- A survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Globoforce found that most HR professionals agreed that employee recognition helps to create a positive workplace culture and employee experience, with over one-half of respondents saying that recognising employees has a positive impact on retention (68%) and recruitment (56%).
- The Brandon Hall Group who found that companies that recognise their employees multiple times a month are 41% more likely to see increased employee retention.
- The same study also highlighted that employees want to be recognised for their achievements, with no less than 74% of employees agreeing that it’s important to receive incentives and rewards from their company.

How do you retain employees using a reward system?
